Does anyone have any information on the song "Crazy Love" that appears on "Classic Songs", "Best Of David Cassidy" and "How Can I Be Sure"? The Downunder fansite credits Rusty Young as songwriter. The only Rusty Young I can find is a member of the band Poco but DC is not singing Poco's "Crazy Love". According to what I read on the Downunder site, David Cassidy does have a connection to Poco: he sang back up on one of Richie Furay's albums. Furay is a founding member of Poco. I Googled the lyrics and the only page that comes up is the lyrics page for the song on the Downunder site.
David Cassidy's "Crazy Love" - catchy enough
Poco's "Crazy Love" - a hit for them but not my style
And of course, "Crazy Love" makes me think of Beyoncé's "Crazy in Love". Catchy as all heck, it's my surefire abs workout and NME just named it "Song of the Decade". (The voters have spoken. We are to deal with it and wait for the next decade.)
That crazy catchy hook in "Crazy in Love" that my hips can't resist? Sampled. Here is the original horn hook from "Are You My Woman? (Tell Me So)" by the Chi-Lites, from 1971. Yup, 1971. Anybody write anything original this decade?

All I hear in that Beyonce song is the bass line. It's so high up in the mix it obliterates everything else around it. I worry me that young kids will get so used to it that they won't be able to recognize a well-balanced sound (not to mention what it's doing to their hearing).
And to continue with the old-fogey motif, that Chi-Lites song is awesome!! Thanks for finding that! The 70s really had some of the best music.
Speaking of which, I saw Rod Stewart yesterday! I work in Rockefeller Center, and he was doing a performance for the Christmas crowd---he's going to be one of the headline acts for the tree-lighting tonight, along with Rob Thomas, Aretha Franklin, and others (I believe it will be on NBC tv). Anyway, Stewart is doing Motown songs now, and he sang "Love Train" ("it's a Christmas train!")---he had a horn section, and backup singers with choreographed moves---it was so cool, so classy.
Don't know who wrote the first song, sorry...
You are right as usual, SLK. The only part of "Crazy in Love" that I like is the Chi-Lites sample. That hook is something else.
You saw Rod Stewart! That is so very cool. Will you be there to watch tonight's performance? Is his new album with those Motown tunes out now? I should go check out Amazon. I hope his voice is a better match for those songs than it is for "The Great American Songbook".
Stewart sounded very much like this last night. It's a Love Train! It's a party! How can anyone not want to dance when they hear that!
I will be here tonight as well---we're having a Christmas party and I will be able to watch from the shelter of my office, unlike all the crazy people who wait outside for hours in the cold without a bathroom. I don't know how they do it! It's really special, though. Everything is decorated and lit up and sparkly, and they flood the buildings and the skating rink with blue and purple light, and project snowflakes all over the ice and the building facades. They have a center stage on the ice, and other stages all around for all the different acts. I bet it will be on the NBC website. You should watch it if you can. Tree lighting is at 8:55 EST. Cheers!
Well. I cant find anything either. I found yet another song called Crazy Love by Paul Anka. Why so many different songs with the same title?
On another note there are some lovely piccies of David in that clip I've never seen before. Special mention to one where he's having a haircut! Wow! And David on a chopper bike. Yeah! I had a chopper bike, ok many of my childhood friends were boys.
I found this on Amazon: David Cassidy Classic Songs Review.
I agree, British Fan, The pictures are AWESOME. I want to know where that "David Cassidy Swoons a Generation" is from!!
Oh, never mind. I don't think that info is correct either on the amazon link.
I meant to say thanks for that link SLK. I agree NYC is so exciting at Christmas. I grew up in the SE Pennsylvania area so I've been to NYC during the Season many times. My grandfather's company used to fund trips for the employees and their families to go to the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Show every year. Plus I've been skating at Rockefeller Center a few times. Now I live in Florida but my sons and I visit my family up there all the time. My parents were great about taking the kids to New York every year for one thing or another. And yes, one year, we all went skating at Rockefeller Center during the Holidays (it was kind of a madhouse). The kids loved it. I think they were 5.
Thanks for the link, SLK. Can't be viewed in Canada though. Pity. Tried to find another clip of Rod Stewart on "The View" on YT last night but to no avail. Was supposed to have taped the live NBC show last night - we'll see if it worked. Did find Stewart's recorded version of "Love Train" on YT and it sounds awesome. Fabulous song. Wouldn't it be wonderful if his "Soulbook" album introduced a whole new generation to the great Motown sound?
As for DC's "Crazy Love", the Downunder site HAD the songwriting credits for it - I didn't dream this, did I? - but they're no longer there. Pretty sure that "Dirty Work" was written by members of Steely Dan and not a BeeGee.
Morning DD, I'm hijacking your lovely blog to ask some advice from anyone here. (I don't belong to forums, facebook or myspace so cant ask anywhere else!).
I want to purchase one of David's concert DVD's and I don't know whether to go for the 2006 David Cassidy Greatest Hits(the one with the red background) or the 2002 David Cassidy in Concert (he looks delish on the cover). Anyone have any of these or can recommend which one to go for?
Thanks,
xxx
According to the sleeve in the Classic Songs CD then Crazy Love was written by Rusty Young
Also Dirty Work is credited to Barry Allan Gibb/ A. Galuten

This is about an interview with Ken Mansfield who produced an album with David which never made it to press but the songs ended up on 'The Best of DC' and 'Classic Songs'. In this interview he is asked about the writers of the songs but doesn't remember who they were and as you say DayDreaming David I think the names that were credited on these albums are wrong.
Thanks for that information, British Fan!!!! I wonder if David would remember.
he can't even remember words to songs anymore never mind who wrote them. He only seems to remember which songs he wrote or those of 'his dear friend' Tony Romeo!!
I just scrolled down to put this comment in so if it was mentioned in another post, sorry. But David is also good friends with Timothy Schmidt, who was in Poco and later in The Eagles.
