The Magic of Christmas

Not mentioning particulars about this clip because of copyright. Find more info here. Don't you just love how he sings "heart" and "soul"? So sweet and warm.

You can hear the whole song here, courtesy of SumerKis. Don't recall on which album it is.

His brother Shaun had a hit with the song in 1978. Good voice but it lacks David's sweetness, doesn't it?

Written by John Sebastian of The Lovin' Spoonful, it was a hit for them in 1965. A great song.

Oh Gosh...I can hear similarities in their voices and singing. It's giving me MAJOR goose bumps. I'm liking Shaun's voice too here.

I'm wondering if part of the difference in the sweetness factor is the arrangement of the songs that Shaun sang. Perhaps if he sang more songs similar to those that David did his singing would have been similarly captivating? I have to admit I don't know much about Shaun's career, but I wouldn't be surprised if the answer is "no."

David had such a rich and poignant set of experiences from which to draw in his interpretations. When David sings there often seems to be so much raw emotion behind it. He seems to sing with his whole body and soul. And David's love of singing really comes through.

Sing Me, David.

I really enjoyed all those clips. Thank you.

I can remember Shaun's teenybopper career but I was older in the late 70's and he did not appeal to me. However, he was a good looking boy but did nothing for me, he doesn't have David's raw sexual appeal, he looks too much like his mother, it would be like fancying Shirley!

Who would love to answer the door to David Cassidy......swoon!!!

Oh yes... I was 13 years old in 1977 and had a crush on Shaun Cassidy. Thought he was so sweet...!Remember him singing this.. "da doo run run".At that time I felt he was closer to my age, then David was. I can´t remember David´s most famous time in Germany very well because I was too young then and not interested in music or in a sweet boy´s smile yet ;-)

Shaun sings it well...but as you said Singme,David seems to sing with his body and soul!
.....wooooow....woooow...love it!!!

He does look SO MUCH like Shirley, British Fan! He is adorable. But not as sexy as David. David's got those amazing eyes. I love his heart shaped face too. GOSH!!! He's beautiful!!!

LuckyB, I WAS of the right age and I completely missed the craze!!! I don't know if you've read my comment a while ago about that. I didn't have much of a chance to see all those images of him back then. But I'm certain that if I did, I would have had my walls plastered with him too!!! At least I was able to appreciate his voice mostly from what I heard on the radio, and had a few albums. I did think he was very cute, but some of the few pictures I had seemed almost artificial to me, not like what's available on the web today.

I didn't get Shaun's appeal back then - he was all over my Tiger Beats and I couldn't stand the look of him (or Leif Garrett). David was so much better looking!! I pretty much only knew Shaun from the Hardy Boys but I had heard DaDoRunRun which I liked. I think the tempo on his version of this Magic song is too fast for us to appreciate his voice. I detect some sweetness in it in this clip. His voice IS similar to David's.

Thanks for that DD! Wow!!!! To me, he looks and sounds a little too much like David for me to ignore. Sigh. I love the Rock 'N Roll song. David should sing that now!! Maybe because I'm just so hypersensitive now to many Davidisms. (I saw a young guy today who looked like David. LOL!)

I still think it's a shame the Brothers Cassidy didn't all come together with their singing. They would have been untouchable. They're all good looking and they all sing very well. I'd love to see/hear them do that even now.

Oh, can you imagine David plus 3 other guys that bare unmistakable resemblance in looks and voice to him singing together? The only things better would be identical quadruplet Davids, or even better, 4 cloned Davids from different eras.
