Just a Great Little Interview

Thanks to Clodyne for this 1990 clip. David is promoting his "David Cassidy" album and looking mighty fine doing it (oh, just shoot me for noticing). What's not to love here? He answers the questions concisely, is self-deprecating AND gracious to boot.

What the heck was I doing at the turn of that decade to have missed this?!

(Don't forget: you can double-click the video and get to YouTube if you want to leave a comment on that video.)

Yes, a lovely interview and David is looking might fine. He comes across really well, not too cocky, actually I'd say he was a little nervous but hid it exceptionally well. His lip licking was in hyperdrive, I notice it so much, it's worse nowadays, cute though. I do wonder why he had to say first record in 12 years - er Romance album? I know Romance was only a hit in Britain/Europe but it could have been acknowledged none the less.

Thanks for putting this up and thanks Clodyne for all you have shared recently. You have made a lot of ladies very happy.

He does specify first record in 12 years in AMERICA. But yeah, why not mention it so that people don't think he's been twiddling his thumbs all those years.

I'm curious about one thing: the co-host is Robin Leach and I'm pretty sure he says something along the lines of "oh, we're old friends" to David when they greet. Does anyone know anything about that? Had Leach ever interviewed David before or could he be a family friend?

Sorry, I have no additional info about Robin Leach. But I just have to say that I ADORE David here!!!

Thank you so much Clodyne and DD!!

When he came out from the Regis studio, the entire corner of 66th street & Broadway was loaded with people wanting to see him and he was so gracious and stopped in the crowd and signed for as many as he could before he had to leave. I was there and to say that my chest swelled with pride for him would be an understatement. I REALLY miss this person today.

In 1983 Robin Leach interviewed David and his then fiancee Meryl at a NY racetrack, for Entertainment Tonight when David was doing Joseph on Broadway, and then David also appeared on a short lived show that Robin Leach had in the late 80's.

He also interviewed David with fan clubs staff at Joanna's Restaurant in 1983 for E.T. but it never aired, and instead they did the one at the racetrack & aired that.

I forgot he mentioned Lennon (briefly!) in this - BTW thanks Cloydene because my VHS of this I can't watch anymore til I can put on DVD. I just came across this video of John Lennon's son, Julian that I wanted to put on here, but didn't know where, and then I saw this and well thought I'd put link here. Its very interesting how David now speaks of John because actually, David is JUST LIKE Julian in how he view his father. And David would say how people tell him how much they liked Jack and thought we such a great actor, and yet David knew the true Jack. Well David says how great a guy John was, and yet Julian knows his dad as the true John.

Ironic. What Julian says here about John, is also how David talks about Jack!

Barbara, thank you so much for sharing this info about David with us. Thanks also for the interview with Julian. VERY interesting similarities between their relationships with their fathers. I wonder if David realizes this.

I sent the link to him, just hope he'll look at it.

Julian had to buy some of his father's possessions at auctions to have something of John's, because his stepmother didn't give him anything of his father's after John died (but she did give stuff to the son they had together.)

I wanted to download the Regis vid. to keep on my Realplayer, but says downloading can't be done for it - even though the little download thingie pops up on video??

Barbara - there seems to be a problem with realplayer. I'm in England and it stopped working for me a couple of days ago. OH says it's youtube, they change their video formats somehow to block downloading programs. Hubby put another downloading program on my computer and that one works. Try an updated version of realplayer or another downloading program.

Thanks for that interview, Clodyne! He looks very happy in this clip. Love how he says that Broadway is rejuvenating him.

Barbara, what are the chances he'll see the clip, you think?

While there is no doubt that all his personal relationships have played a part in who he is today, I'd like to focus our discussions on his career and not on his personal life.

Barbara, forgot to say: if you email me, I can help you with that interview clip as well as inserting hyperlinks in your comment.

Apparently RealPlayer has released an update.

Just curious Barbara, what operating system are you using?

Thank you so much Barbara for the perspective you add!!! That interview with Julian is SO ironic. I think it would be really cool if David reached out to Julian since they've had similar experiences with their fathers. Perhaps that would help David not feel so alone. I'm so glad you sent him the link. Hopefully, he will see it.

I was curious to know if you have ANY contact with David at all these days and now you say you've emailed him that link. I would guess that a lot of that would be confidential so I feel funny asking. I just wonder if there is ANY way to get ANY feedback to him that he would listen to or that could influence him about his career at this point. I'm starting to think there isn't.

Clodyne, you are the David fairy godmother!!!! Thanks once again!!!

Barbara - Just David said...

I use real player but then when it said to update it to SPGold, I did that and it still didn't work.
I also have Media Player as secondary player.

Oh my hyperlinks come out as links on my comments. Cloydyne has the link to the Entertainment Tonight video that needs hyperlinking. :-)

I have always given David both positive & negative feedback on how I feel about something he's done. LOL, sometimes got me in 'hot water' with him, but he knows it's sincere & genuinely how I feel.
So I just sent him the Julian link.

Is this the video you're talking about Barbara.

Yep that's it! Gosh like a lifetime ago. And his longer dark blondish hair for Joseph role - I KNOW! but I liked his hair that way. LOL

Did you try your links, Barbara? They don't work for me. If I try and post the HTML code here, it automatically converts it to a hyperlink so it's useless (I tried adding this explanation to my comment guidelines). I'll try to figure out a way.

Barbara - Just David said...

Oh I just saw it come up in blue with line underneath so I assumed link worked. I put the and before and after the link address and then it turns blue. But I never tried my links once I typed them and I did just now and it doesn't work.

BTW I use both Foxfire and Internet Explorer depending on what is needed, Primarily use Foxfire and had no problem downloading videos before from YT I only use I.E. for some audio podcasts if needed, because they are built into I.E. but usually I hate I.E.

Barbara - Just David said...

I put the a and /a before and after the link address.

Daydreaming David said...

Barbara, try this code

href="website address">Text description

between the two a

(if I try and write the opening and closing a, the comment doesn't get accepted because of wrong HTML tags.)

Thanks for the info Barbara. I run Windows XP and I use IE but I haven't had any problems. There is a new free version which I have not downloaded.

Just curious. Sometimes I have an opportunity to help people with stuff and I just like to gather what info I can so I appreciate your taking the time to tell me about your computer environment.
