David Cassidy singing ITILY on Oprah

I mentioned in my previous post that I remembered this performance as not sounding so great. A reader kindly refreshed my memory by sending me the link to the video on Oprah's site. Thank you kind reader. He's not singing out of tune but the song has a slightly different arrangement/tempo here than the original. The audience is certainly boogie-ing. No unmentionables are strewn about and he doesn't serenade anyone in the audience.

I must have been thinking of another TV appearance. I'd better start those memory exercises...if I could just remember where I put them ;-)

Thanks for that link. I was trying to find it on youtube, didn't know Oprah had her own site. We Brits lead a secluded life! That made me smile. David really looks like he's enjoying himself. He's so cheesy, in the best possible way, I think I have to see him live one day. Those women sure enjoyed it too!

They're playing it too fast. It needs a bit of a slower tempo.

British fan, you are too funny. Oprah is rich enough to have her own country, never mind a piddly website :)

I think I agree with your assessment here: cheesy!

Talking of memory exercises, I hope I don't forget a lovely one of David on Glen Campbell Hour on YT singing Everly Brothers duets, looking both sweet and sexy and wearing the most gorgeous brown outfits. There was also one of him singing a medley of his hits. These appear to have been removed due to violation!! It makes me mad. If it weren't for all the lovely fans posting these things I would never have spend so much money rebuilding my Cassidy collection. Why can't they just leave them there, it's good advertising for goodness sake. As soon as I discover something new, another lovely one disappears. Aargh!! Rant over.

I vividly recall these videos and you're correct, they've been taken off. It is a shame because YouTube has become a place for fans to share memories and discover talent. My goal is to obtain the complete DC and PF recording collections and that is due to the clips I discovered on YouTube.

Yes like you both say that a shame! I happen to know the girl who put those videos on YouTube and they removed her videos and closed her account due to terms of violation.I think it is so silly to do that.I got me mad too because when I got to rediscovered DC in 2006 and Youtube was the only place I could go to see videos on him.I found some that were very rares and thank god I got to save them all before they were removed. There are still plenty videos out there who should be taken off due to terms of violation and they're still there.I don't get it! Why is it ok to one person to upload certain kind of videos and for the other it is not??

Cassidyfan4ever, it's not okay but I'm pretty sure YT removes what original owners of the material request them to remove. YT doesn't delete videos willy nilly. So, if a company doesn't know their copyright material is up on YouTube, let's not tell them. ;-)

I hesitate to use copyrighted material here but discussions about a song are bound to fall flat if people can't hear it right away. To me, discussing music on this blog is like having friends over to listen to music in my living room - I'd play the songs I'd want to share and discuss with you, not hand you a list of song titles for you to check out on your own. No, it's "I'm here, you're here ;-), have a listen to this, isn't it great/crappy?"

If a PF song doesn't have a slideshow video created by a fan, I might link to one of the musical segments of the show, all the while crossing my fingers. I figure every PF fan has the DVDs (if you don't, shush!), so the PF owners (and yes, I know their name, again, shush! :)) aren't being cheated out of huge royalties by having us watch a three-minute clip.
