I woke up from something that kept knocking at my brain...

One morning, almost two months ago, I woke up thinking of David Cassidy. No clue why but I was compelled to check him out on the net. I hadn't thought of him in DECADES! Looking at his early pictures, I was left speechless at his beauty. I didn't remember how stunning he was.

The hair. He owns the shag. Period. No one else should even attempt it. The feathered bangs don't highlight his gorgeous features: they amplify them to the nth degree.

The smile. Ten thousand kilowatts with two incisors just unruly enough to make it perfect and dimples to make it outer worldly. A beaming smile that says I'm a good guy who knows how to have the time of my life, won't you join me for the ride?

The eyes. Soulful bedroom eyes with lashes so lush they give false lashes an inferiority complex. In some pictures, those hazel diamonds reveal an irresistible vulnerability; in others, they beckon with promises of tantalizing secrets revealed.

I have never seen a more beautiful man in my life. Yet, as pretty as he is, he looks natural. Thick, natural brows. Hair unsullied by styling goop and sprays. Regular, casual clothes - not outfits picked out by a Hollywood stylist.

Look at that pucker. Even with bags under his eyes, he's the sexiest man I've ever seen.

Wow, I really love your description of his looks!!! It’s beautiful!! I think I feel as strongly when I look at him, but I haven't been able to figure out why. LOL! I'm really glad you posted something just devoted to his looks because now I can pour out some of my own thoughts about this.

These pictures are some of the best, for sure! I love that white shirt on him. I like him best in white, black, red, and pink - he really looks great in pink!! I love those white jumpsuits he used to wear during concerts - contrasting with his hair...and him singing his heart out and those moves...OMG!!! I just don't know what to do with myself sometimes but just stare in silence – it actually hurts. I just can’t get over how gorgeous he is!!!! I don’t ever remember feeling like this about anyone else.

And there are just SO MANY GREAT pictures of him. It’s just unbelievable. It’s like it is impossible for him to NOT to effect a gorgeous image. I love the part on the Partridge Family Biography where Danny Bonaduce is describing the mania about David:

“David was gorgeous!!! I mean, David was stunningly beautiful with his long shag hair and his puka shells and shirts unbuttoned to here. … David was beautiful! And he was talented, and yeah, I understood the mania completely.”

That’s a pretty powerful statement coming from a straight guy!!!!

He does seem like one-of-kind in that he is so talented and beautiful in so many ways. More opportunities and reasons to photograph him. More dazzling images for us to gaze at. It’s like everything just feeds off of everything else synergistically producing this incredibly beautiful phenomenon.

Thanks for this opportunity to gush!!  KC

K, come over and gush ANYTIME.

This: "I just don't know what to do with myself sometimes but just stare in silence – it actually hurts. I just can’t get over how gorgeous he is!!!! I don’t ever remember feeling like this about anyone else." is EXACTLY how I feel as well. I've had a few crushes on celebrities as an adult but never wanted to research their career, stare endlessly at their pictures and I certainly didn't think about them everyday!

And I totally remember that quote from Danny Bonaduce!! I find it funny how it somehow validates my feelings about David when I hear such statements from straight men. I have a post that touches a bit on this.

Thank you very much for your post!

Thanks!! I was rereading the Naked Lunchbox article and I find it very affirming that EVERYONE seemed to think that about David - that he was just incredibly gorgeous. Men would take a double-take too as he was so "pretty". "You're beautiful when you're mad.", Henry, his photographer said.
That's pretty mindboggling. And it's so infectious too.

In thinking about this more, I realized that my ex actually looked similar in a lot of ways - dark, shag hair-cut, a beautiful androgynous face; so I guess it's a matter of personal preference too for the look he has which just makes him that much more irresistible to me. Another image I love is the young John Kay of Steppenwolf. Not as cute as David by a long shot, but the dark long hair, the face that was androgynous. When I first saw a picture of him from back then I was stunned.

Happy Day Dreaming…;=) KC

Had to look up John Kay's picture. Guess what? He was also born on April 12.

I'm mulling over this whole androgynous look for a future post. Thanks KC!

OMG!!! That gives me goose bumps!! How coincidental is that????

Before I get back to this “look” that I find so attractive, I wanted to mention that there is another similarity here for me: The gravelly voice of John Kay AND that of David’s in some songs. I love your description of David’s voice in your
He can actually sing!
post. That does it for me too!! But I also love that gravelly way he does
Please Please Me
, and the way he sings “Rock me” in Rock Me Baby and Sing Me. What a range!!

Back to his looks, am I off base with this comparison? Here is the very first image I saw of John Kay that I'm talking about:

Close ups at 0:30-0:48, 1:02-1:16, 1:33-1:44, and at the end starting at 2:41. Uh...Sorry for the dirty teeth. Thank goodness David was always so great about keeping his teeth clean!!!

This is what really got me turned onto YouTube initially a couple of years ago. One day I heard Magic Carpet Ride on the radio and thought, "I LOVE that guy's gravelly voice!! I wonder what he looks like." I was expecting this wolf-like looking guy to match the voice but there was that face and hair instead. Maybe his face is not quite androgynous, but here his face for me is this "non-threatening" sexy look that has also been attributed in large part to David's appeal. Do you see it too? I’m sure you could describe it better than I am. KC

I'd never really noticed John Kay's voice before. "Born to be Wild" is one of my favorite songs but it was the music that did it for me; I never stopped and really listened to the lead singer's voice (apart from Sting and Bono, I don't think I've ever really noticed a rock band lead singer's voice). Kay definitely has a rock singer's voice. But sorry, no, I don't see much resemblance with David, looks or voice.
