I Got Misty-Eyed.

Really. Gotta love this former teen idol's attitude.
"Jones unabashedly embraces his career as a Monkee. "John Lennon once said he didn't want to end up singing his old hits in Las Vegas. Well, I do," says Jones"

The article is hardly recent (1992!), but if Mr. Jones has kept the same frame of mind since: Chapeau, monsieur! Chapeau! Photo from his official website.

I had a crush on him! I was part of that craze, if only for a year!

Look at all the concerts he has scheduled. He's even going to Japan! He's an animal.

Hmmm! And he's going to be in Orlando this weekend. I'll have to miss that again.

Yes, I had noticed that Davy Jones had a healthy attitude to it all. Maybe some of it has rubbed off on David Cassidy since they last performed together, after all David's last few concerts have gone well.

The only thing that lets Davy Jones down is having a young wife (whom he allows onto his stage set to dance on occassion) but I'll let him off that one seeing as he's an alright kind of guy! David Cassidy wins the embracing mature women award since he is still married to his lovely wife who is the SAME AGE as David, unusual in showbiz.

There's really an award for everything these days ;-) Mrs C. is a former model with "legs right up to her neck", to quote Rod Stewart. I've a feeling that even on her worst days, she looks better than I do on my best ones.

I've never seen a Monkees episode. Am familiar with their hits but not the show and was surprised to learn that it was on for only two seasons. It seems to have had the same impact as The PF, which ran for four.

I have just visited Davy Jones' website and I have to say how impressed I am with it and how much it puts David Cassidy's website to shame. Davy even does a blog where he 'talks' to his fans, what a guy.

Just think what David Cassidy could achieve if he could open up the same and put himself out there more. I know David says he is a very private person but that shouldn't stop him having a better relationship and regard for his fans who in turn would reward him by supporting his concerts and buying his memorabilia!

I cant believe I'm saying this but Viva Davy Jones.

On the other hand DC is perhaps a lot more guarded and private than DJ BUT as he was always a bigger star there's no reason why DC's schedule should not rival that of Davy or be even bigger, maybe, dare I say it, our lovely David (Cassidy) just doesn't have the interest anymore and prefers just occassional concerts and a quiet life, well I guess he's earned it if that's the case. Shame for us fans though.

I agree wholeheartedly BF. I think the disparity in the websites is a clue into just how interested the respective stars are in promoting their performing careers and in keeping fans informed. I think their personalities are also reflected as you pointed out. But it seems quite obvious whose heart is in it and whose isn't when you compare the two websites.

For instance, it really would have been wonderful to know what David sang at the 2010 Dallas Curtain Call Gala David supposedly performed at this past weekend. But there is not a word about it on his website.

The reason why DC doesn't put himself out there is in the evidence that the PR that is put out is not really refective of how he really feels.
It is more of what the fans want to hear.
Most of his shows are at casinos.
The casino shows are safe because they are short. The casinos also just need an act in there because they comp their high rollers with the promise of a show.
Hard to tell what it is he really wants to do in the future.

Just guessing?

This post wasn't meant to be a comparison between Cassidy and Jones. I just thought that Mr. Jones' outlook on his fans' ongoing appreciation of his early work was commendable and I hope his fans appreciate it. I'm sure that DC has also expressed this type of gratitude to fans on more than one occasion.
